Editing Equipment in the Inventory
The equipment ID is displayed as a link in the equipment inventory. Selecting the link opens the "Edit equipment inventory" page for that equipment.
Functionality
As well as updating the information for the equipment, the following actions can be carried out from the edit equipment inventory page.
- Usage History
- The usage history link displays a data table showing the usage history for the equipment. The usage history page also displays whether the equipment is already booked out, and allows the equipment to be reserved.
- Maintenance History
- The maintenance history link displays a data table showing the maintenance history for the equipment. New maintenance history records may be added from this page, where a maintenance facility is selected, along with a description of the fault.
- Check Out
- The equipment may be assigned to a patron from this link. If the equipment is already checked out to a patron, the patron that currently has the equipment is displayed.
- Reserve
- The reserve link allows the equipment to be reserved by a patron. The reservation page displays other reservations, and indicates whether the equipment is currently in use. The reservation includes the equipment, patron, site, check out date, and check in date.
Equipment Specification Fields
- Description
- A description of the equipment, such as "Black keyboard". The description field is mandatory.
- ID
- A unique ID assigned to the equipment, such as "EQID999". The ID field is mandatory, and must be unique in the inventory.
- Serial Number
- The unique serial number for the equipment. The serial number field is mandatory, and must be unique in the inventory.
- Model
- The model for the equipment, such as "Pavilion dv7". The model is field is optional.
- Purchase Date
- The date the equipment was purchased.
- Purchase Cost
- The purchase cost for the equipment.
- Category
- A drop-down list containing the equipment categories set up in the configuration section.
- Manufacturer
- A drop-down list containing the manufacturers set up in the configuration section.
- Vendor
- A drop-down list containing the vendors set up in the configuration section.
- Funding
- A drop-down list containing the funding sources set up in the configuration section.
- Other
- An optional field to store other information about the equipment.
- Active
- A checkbox that indicates whether this equipment is available to patrons.
- Comments
- An optional field to store general comments about the equipment.
